1. What Statement is

Statement is a community-driven public-safety app that lets users in India post short incident reports (with optional photo and location) and browse reports posted by other users. It is not a news outlet, an emergency service, or a substitute for calling the police, an ambulance, or the fire service. In an emergency call the national emergency helpline 112.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• You must be legally able to enter a binding contract under Indian law.
• You must not have been previously banned from the platform.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens on your account.
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
• You may not share your account, transfer it, or let another person log in as you.
• Notify us immediately at support@alacticai.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Acceptable use — community rules

You agree not to use Statement to:

• Post false, misleading, or fabricated incidents.
• Impersonate any person, agency, or authority.
• Publish another person's private information (address, phone number, ID document, license plate close-up, medical status, sexual orientation, etc.) — commonly known as "doxxing".
• Post photos or videos of minors in ways that identify them.
• Post nudity, sexual content, gore, or content glorifying violence.
• Post content that promotes discrimination or hatred on the basis of religion, caste, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
• Harass, threaten, defame, or stalk another user or any identifiable person.
• Post content that violates any law of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its Intermediary Guidelines.
• Solicit business, advertise, spam, or run political campaigns.
• Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security or authentication features.
• Automate or scrape the service (bots, crawlers, headless clients) without our written permission.

5. Content you post ("User Content")

5.1 You own it

You retain ownership and copyright of the text, photos, and location data you submit ("Your Content").

5.2 Licence you grant us

By posting Your Content on Statement you grant Alactic Inc a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, translate, and adapt Your Content solely for the purpose of operating, providing, promoting, and improving the Statement service. This licence ends when you delete the content, except that:

• Copies retained in operational backups may persist for up to 90 days before secure deletion.
• If your content has been shared by other users (screenshot, share link), we cannot control copies made outside the platform.

5.3 Responsibility

You are solely responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have every right necessary to post it and that posting it does not violate any law, contract, or third-party right.

6. Moderation

• Any user may flag content that appears to violate these Terms.
• Our moderators review flags and may remove content, warn users, hide reports from the feed, or ban accounts.
• Repeat or severe violations lead to permanent removal without refund or notice.
• We may remove content proactively without a user flag if it clearly violates the law or these Terms.
• If your content is removed or your account is banned, you may appeal by emailing support@alacticai.com within 30 days.

7. Location, photos, and personal safety

• Location coordinates you attach to a report are visible to all Statement users and pinned on the community map. Do not post your home coordinates or the coordinates of a vulnerable person.
• Do not report a crime in progress to Statement — call 112 first. Statement is for informing the community, not for summoning first responders.
• Do not photograph or approach people who may be dangerous. Your personal safety is more important than any report.

8. Fees

Statement is free to use. There are no paid features, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases in this MVP release. If we introduce paid features in the future, these Terms will be updated and you will be given advance notice.

9. Termination and suspension

• You may delete your account at any time from the app Settings, or by emailing us.
• We may suspend or terminate your access for any breach of these Terms, and, in serious cases, without prior notice.
• Sections that by their nature should survive termination (User Content licence for existing shared copies, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, dispute resolution) will survive.

10. Disclaimers

• Statement is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.
• User-submitted content is not verified by us before it appears on the feed. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the accuracy of any user-submitted report, comment, or photo.
• Statement is not an official government service, a news publisher, or a crisis-response system.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, Alactic Inc, its officers, employees, and service providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Statement — including without limitation loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury arising from reliance on any user-submitted content.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to Statement is limited to ₹1,000 (one thousand Indian Rupees).

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Alactic Inc and its personnel from any claim, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content or your breach of these Terms.

13. Third parties

Statement uses Google Play Services for authentication and push notifications, MongoDB Atlas for data storage, and Google Cloud Platform for hosting. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their own services. We do not control these third parties and do not accept responsibility for their acts or omissions beyond what our contracts with them require.

14. Changes to the service and to these Terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features of Statement at any time. We may also update these Terms; if we make material changes we will notify you in-app or by email at least 15 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Statement after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the service and may delete your account.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or Statement will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Gurugram, Haryana, India. Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to first email us in good faith at support@alacticai.com so we can attempt to resolve the issue.

16. Miscellaneous

• These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Alactic Inc regarding Statement.
• If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
• Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
• You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them freely.
